lgbtqia+ and neurodivergent - affirming therapy
for people of color, 1st, 2nd, 3rd gen immigrants
As part of the LGBTQ+, BIPOC, and immigrant populations, you might…
find yourself in a position of uncertainty—not sure what you value, how to spend your time, what space to take up, and where you belong
struggle with authenticity and autonomy when in relationships with others
have spent years, if not a lifetime, catering to others that you no longer understand yourself and your needs
carry familial and societal expectations on your back
feel out of control when your emotions arise and past situations come up
experience burnout from school, work, social connections, family ties
be caught among worlds of cultures, communities, systems, unable to live fully as yourself all the time
Many stressors and triggers come from systems beyond individual healing. Sometimes, the best we can do is survive, but I am here to help you unpack all these layers of living, growing, fleeing, disrupting, making waves.
I will make room for you to reimagine a life with hope, care, and joy.
Healing is not easy, but you will not be alone.
There’s always room for you.
Nice to meet you,
i’m Linh
MSW, LSWAIC (they)
My approach to therapy is relationally focused, trauma-informed, attachment-based, anti-oppressive, neurodiversity- and polyam-affirming, LGBTQIA+ celebrating. I support my clients in processing their anxiety and emotions, navigating relationships, exploring their sexuality and gender identity, and untangling intergenerational family narratives and trauma.
I recognize that your lived experiences and environments have a profound impact on you in both life-affirming and painful ways. I will support you in feeling all of your parts and processing your experiences. I combine techniques from Internal Family Systems (IFS), Sensorimotor Psychotherapy, trauma- and AuDHD- informed research while maintaining a systemic lens to trace the many layers of your experiences.
Sessions with me are made up of heartfelt conversations, open curiosity, deep empathy, expressive writing and drawing, laughter, and tears.
Areas
of Focus
-
Anxiety is a normal and common body response to stressors in our lives. Yet, as these stressors increase, your anxiety can feel like anything but normal.
-
Folks who exist outside of the gender binary of man/woman and the heteronormative scale often experience deep disruption in their sense of safety, belonging, and dignity.
-
Moving to a new country is incredibly challenging, especially one with an entirely different set of values and languages. For children of immigrants, the pressure of assimilation, identity exploration, cultural preservation can be distressing and paralyzing.
-
Many BIPOC shift between hypervigilant and frozen states of being and take on shapes that promote safety, dignity, belonging. This shaping also gets passed on from generation to generation, as both a demonstration of generational resilience and generational trauma.
-
The areas above are not all that I work with, and I'm working on updating them while honoring my neurodivergent executive dysfunction.
